HUNTER FIELD NOTES / BETA 1.60.1.70425

WoW Forever Hunter changes from Classic

These notes compare the Hunter talent snapshot used by this calculator with the Classic comparison supplied by Talents Forever. They cover how the trees fit together and what the five recommended allocations actually contain. They are a planning guide, not a damage ranking or an independent beta-client test.

Snapshot: beta build 1.60.1.70425, exported 16 October 2026 and cross-checked here on 17 October. The community build catalogue still describes a level-30 beta cap. Its level-60 allocations are plans for later progression; none of the three deep capstones below can be reached with an ordinary level-30 budget.

Start with the way you want to fight

The five cards on the Hunter calculator give you two entry points for the beta and three full-budget plans. Every card has a link to its exact community allocation, so you can inspect the source as well as load the points here.

PlanBeast Mastery / Marksmanship / SurvivalWhat to check before loading
Beast Mastery Beta Starter21/0/0A pet plan with Summon Hawk and Intimidation. Keep an active pet for Focused Fire.
Survival Leveling Starter0/0/21The first 21 points of a published leveling order, ending at Strider Kick. It does not yet learn Resourcefulness or Expose Prey.
Beast Mastery Pet Plan31/20/0A full pet plan that reaches Bestial Wrath and adds Marksmanship support.
Marksmanship Lone Wolf Plan5/41/5A ranged plan with Sniper Shot. Lone Wolf only works without an active pet.
Survival Melee Lone Wolf Plan5/11/35A melee plan with Expose Prey and Lacerating Strikes. It also takes Lone Wolf.

“Community-sourced” means the allocation was published by the linked source. It does not mean that a raid, dungeon or PvP performance test has validated it. The source counts calculator activity, not the purpose people used a build for, so these plans are not assigned invented raid or PvP labels.

Beast Mastery: distinguish your pet from summoned hawks

Summon Hawk gives Beast Mastery another active button. Its shared cooldown with Arcane Shot matters when choosing which one to use; learning both does not provide independent cooldowns. Read the current effect below for the hawk limit and attack scaling.

Several familiar talents now mention hawks as well as pets, including Unleashed Fury and Ferocity. That wording does not make every pet benefit a hawk benefit. In particular, Focused Fire requires an active pet. Treat that condition separately from having a hawk attacking your target.

The linked Beast Mastery starter reaches Intimidation. Its prerequisite is Bestial Swiftness; the full pet plan continues through Intimidation to Bestial Wrath. This is a reason to follow the actual arrows in the Forever tree rather than reuse a Classic allocation by its old point total. Neither the starter nor the full pet plan takes Lone Wolf.

Marksmanship: pet choice, earlier utility and a new capstone

Lone Wolf makes the pet decision explicit: its damage benefit requires no active pet. The recommended Marksmanship and deep Survival plans both include it. Summoning a pet does not delete your points, but it changes whether that talent’s condition is met. Choose deliberately rather than assuming every pet and no-pet benefit operates together.

Trueshot Aura sits earlier in this tree than in the supplied Classic comparison, and the current snapshot describes a ranged attack power benefit for party or raid members. It no longer has the Classic Barrage prerequisite. Mortal Shots instead has a full Careful Aim prerequisite; Sniper Shot links to Trueshot Aura. The full Marksmanship plan follows those dependencies.

Rapid Recuperation is conditional regeneration. Applying Serpent Sting opens its window; consuming Rapid Killing improves the permitted regeneration within that effect. The higher percentage is a replacement, not another amount to add on top. The full Marksmanship plan takes both ranks and the required Rapid Killing.

Sniper Shot is the deep Marksmanship milestone. Its range benefit applies to the next three Shots during the stated window. A level-60 plan containing it is useful for comparing later choices, but a normal level-30 character cannot reach it.

Survival: melee abilities, marks and resource conditions

The recommended deep Survival plan combines melee support with Lone Wolf. Predator’s Edge distinguishes melee ability critical strike damage from its separate off-hand damage bonus. Do not turn that into a claim that all critical hits receive the same bonus.

Expose Prey needs a target afflicted by Hunter’s Mark. Your melee and ranged attacks can then enable Mongoose Bite for its stated window. Lacerating Strikes requires both Expose Prey ranks and adds a bleed based on Mongoose Bite’s damage. It is not a passive bleed attached to every attack.

Resourcefulness has two distinct parts: lower Mana costs for traps and melee abilities, and a regeneration effect triggered by melee or ranged ability critical strikes. Its proc chance is not a permanent regeneration rate. The exact full-rank text is shown below.

The 30-level Survival starter deliberately stops earlier in this development. It has Strider Kick, but neither Expose Prey nor Resourcefulness. Loading it and seeing those nodes unlearned is correct. The published leveling order continues past the beta budget; its later points should not be silently added to a 21-point starter.

What the latest snapshot clarified

Compared with the preceding 70291 snapshot stored in this repository, 70425 changes five Hunter talent descriptions: Trueshot Aura, Rapid Recuperation, Predator’s Edge, Resourcefulness and Expose Prey. Some changes clarify targets or activation conditions; Resourcefulness also changes its proc probabilities. The data changelog records this update. A difference between exports is not proof of the date an in-game change took effect.

The fresh class export and Hunter section of the combined export agree for all 50 talents and 148 ranks. They also match the site’s current Hunter data. No tree positions, rank limits, prerequisites or share-code version needed changing for this guide. The source’s Classic comparison is a community comparison; we have not independently audited the beta client.

Use the planner with the right budget

This planner uses points from level 10, a shared 51-point cap at level 60, five-point gates in earlier rows of the same tree and fully learned prerequisites. It does not model the Legacy perk that can change when early points are earned. The level-30 cards use 21 points under these ordinary rules; the main calculator remains a level-60 planner after loading one.

You can change the loaded points, copy the resulting link, refresh to restore it or reset all trees. Share links include the class, build version and structure fingerprint. A link for another class or an incompatible data snapshot is rejected rather than silently mapped onto a different tree.
